maple tree selection

Next to beech trees, head to Oshirakawa to select felled Japanese maple trees
Maple is used for business card holders, mouse pads, and fountain pen cases.

The trees cut this time will be used for production from this fall. We still have a long way to go.

On April 3rd, I accompanied Mr. T from the Oshirakawa Production Forest Cooperative, and Mr. I, who saw the lumber. There is still more than 3m of snow left and it's tightly packed, so it's fun to walk anywhere!

The wood is selected while considering the durability of the product, the yield of the lumber, and the growth of the forest several decades later. This time, I chose about 10 trees from Kami-no-Yamawaki-no-sawa.
At this time of year, there is snow flowing at the Hama Dam and there is a limited-time soba restaurant, so I go there every week, but it's work...
